Securus Technologies is the leader in the criminal justice telecommunications industry. You see, there is no capitalism when it comes to our criminal justice system. When locked up, a prisoner has no choice but to use one particular telecommunications provider to make all phone calls, emails and video chats.
Inmates rate Securus over their competition. One of the reasons is ease-of-use. It is incredibly simple to set up an account with the telecommunications company. Once your account is set up, the prisoner or someone on the outside of the prison can log in to schedule a video chat. Once the time for the video chat is approved, both parties simply log back into the account to connect over the internet.
This video chat technology is really taking the burden off of prison guards. Physical visitation is quite an ordeal. Many families live hours away from the correctional facility and may need to take a day off of work to make a physical visitation happen.
Lost wages are not the only concern. The cost of gas and food on the way to the correctional facility can also pile up. Once at the facility, visitors must subject themselves to a screening which can be intimidating. Visitors then wait in a very cold and sterile room for their visitation. And many are frustrated at the fact that there is limited contact with the prisoner and only a short period of time to talk face-to-face.
But video chat technology allows prisoners, friends and family to connect virtually and instantly. The cost is reasonable and there is no travel burden put on the visitors. It is especially helpful for the children of prisoners who do not have to go through such an uncomfortable ordeal. Children can simply visit with their parent in the comfort of their own bedroom.
I have heard of a lot of security companies, but I believe when it comes to prison surveillance Securus Technologies may be one of the best companies around. I know that this company also provides home network security, but the fact that it offers a way for investigators to track down fraternization in the prison system is miraculous.
This is a company that is doing much more than simply putting cameras in place. There is software available that actually gives this company and edge on other companies that have similar software for investigators.
The great thing about Securus is that this company has more than one patent. The investigation software is not the only thing that this company is known for. I actually discovered Securus as a means to video visitation. I believe that this is one of the companies that has capitalized on the video visitation platform. Lots of jail systems have this Securus software and hardware in the prison system. This allows people to sign up for a Securus account and visit their friends and families through web portals.
This can be done through a phone, tablet or computer. I believe that this may be one of the best ways for people to visit with family members that are incarcerated. I think that this is also an incredible way for Securus to branch out into different areas for the Department of Corrections. The investigation software was already a big deal for this company, but it appears that people have been taking more interest in the video visitation software now that this brand is getting more exposure. I would definitely recommend this type of video visitation software for anyone that is trying to build a better relationship with family members on the inside.
I definitely think that Securus executives were onto something big when they decided to tackle these different areas of technology inside of the prison system. There are so many ways for the Department of Corrections to save money and cut down on the overcrowding of inmates. I definitely believe that this fraternization and video software platforms can be a sure fire way to cut down the overcrowding. This, in return, will save the state department so much money. Billions of dollars are spent on trying to keep inmates locked away and fed. The housing for these inmates can be very expensive, but Securus Technologies is providing solutions that can reduce overcrowding in prisons and also minimize the amount of staff members that are needed to oversee inmates inside of the prison system. Securus is an upgrade to what the prison system typically has, but this upgrade will save so much more money in the long run.
